JDC Support, care for and support a young adult with Autism named ‘Jake’ to live an ordinary life in his community while he builds upon relationships and friendships in his community.

People who support Jake, are skilled experienced disability support staff who have patience, kindness, and empathy. They believe in what Jake’s family believe in that everyone person deserves a good life and a valued life.

Staff who agree to work with JDC Support must work within the principals of Person Centred Active support model as this is the model that fits Jakes life and lifestyle.

Key selection criteria to succeed in this role
  • Prior experience working in a residential home environment essential
  • Demonstrated ability:
    1. In the delivery of positive behaviour support and implementation of behaviour support plans and strategies
    2. working with clients with an intellectual disability who have complex behaviours and medical requirements
    3. to work within a 2:1 team framework and with our client’s extended care team
    4. recognition and implementation of full person centred active support for continued learning and development assisting him to achieve his NDIS goals of independence and ADL skill development
    5. Maintaining daily recording records and data collection records on computer
  • Relevant Autism experience minimum 2 years’ experience required
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – clear concise English
  • Computer skills – Microsoft applications, word, email, iPad
